Meet the Instructor

Akua Gaudry, the owner and operator of Connect with Art has been enraptured with visual art since she was a child. She studied art throughout high school at Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, and also took several art courses at Mount Holyoke College.

She searched for ways to share her artistic passion with children. In Ghana during summer and fall of 2006 she taught art to children at Autism Awareness Care and Training (AACT) a school for children with autism. After the birth of her first daughter, she sought ways to make this passion for teaching arts to children a reality so she created Connect with Arts summer art camp in the summer of 2010.

Dance is Akua´s other artistic passion. She has studied West African dance forms at Mount Holyoke College with Bamidele Dancers and Drummers, in France with Une Touche d'Ebène (West African dance association), and in Accra, Ghana. She has taught West African dance forms to various groups including students at the Alliance Francaise in Washington, D.C., and attendees at Northwest Community Church.

Testimonial

Just want to give a shoutout to Akua, who has been teaching art to Zazu the past few weeks.  She is teaching a summer camp and I highly recommend her as a teacher.  Look what Zazu did yesterday in class during an hour of instruction. Original on the left, Zazu's work on the right, and he did it by drawing UPSIDE DOWN!
